Microsoft Research New York City (MSR NYC) is looking for a Senior Researcher to push the boundaries of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in groundbreaking ways. Responsibilities:

  • Lead Your Own Research: Design and execute a research program that spans both theoretical and empirical work in AI/ML.
  • Collaborate Globally: Work closely with other researchers within MSR NYC, as well as MSR labs in Montreal and New England, to advance AI/ML research that bridges multiple domains.
  • Innovate Across Disciplines: Push the boundaries of deep learning, generative AI, and modular transfer learning while exploring new intersections with other research areas.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • PhD in a relevant field (completed or near completion).
  • A proven research track record, demonstrated by two conference or journal publications, book chapters, or other equivalent writing samples.
  • Strong interest in AI/ML, particularly in deep learning, generative AI, and transfer learning.
  • Ability to think both theoretically and empirically to explore new research directions.

Preferred:

  • Research agenda that aligns with ongoing work at MSR NYC, MSR Montreal, or MSR New England.
  • Active participation in the scientific community, including contributions to conferences, workshops, or collaborations.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly present and disseminate research findings.

Compensation:

  • The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year.
  • For the New York City metro area, the base pay range is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
  • Eligible for benefits and additional compensation.
