???? What You’ll Do:
As an AI Specialist, you’ll:
- Partner with faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students to apply AI tools to tackle scientific challenges.
- Build, adapt, and optimize advanced AI models, such as Deep Learning and Large Language Models (LLMs), to solve complex problems across disciplines.
- Leverage UVA’s high-performance computing cluster to scale AI training across GPUs.
- Innovate and experiment with new AI frameworks and algorithms to improve research outcomes.
- Create software solutions for diverse applications, from text and audio to vision and multimodal analysis.
- Lead the preparation of insightful reports, data visualizations, and peer-reviewed publications.
- Develop and deliver training programs to empower the research community in adopting AI.
- Stay on the cutting edge by engaging in professional organizations, conferences, and workshops.
???? What We’re Looking For:
Required Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (Master’s or higher) in computer science, electrical engineering, data science, or a related field focused on AI.
- 2+ years of relevant experience in AI.
- Proficiency in Python, R, or Matlab, with expertise in AI libraries and frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, Transformers).
- Hands-on experience with high-performance computing (HPC) or cloud platforms for AI training.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in diverse teams.
- US citizenship or permanent residency (required for high-security data environments).
Preferred Qualifications:
- PhD in a related field with a focus on AI.
- 4+ years of research experience, including publications and grant work.
- Expertise in:
- Training and optimizing large AI models on HPC clusters.
- Transformer architectures for multimodal, audio, vision, and text analysis.
- Fine-tuning LLMs and advanced techniques like prompt engineering and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
- Evaluating performance metrics beyond accuracy to enhance AI applications.
