Your Role at a Glance

As the Data & Technology Innovation Manager, you will:

  • Lead Projects: Oversee data-driven and technology-focused initiatives within APHSA’s Process Innovation portfolio, collaborating with state agencies to implement transformative solutions.
  • Develop Resources: Create innovative tools, knowledge content, and digital resources to build capacity and inspire change across human services agencies.
  • Foster Collaboration: Partner with state and local agencies, national networks, and industry leaders to exchange ideas and advance APHSA’s mission of promoting process innovation.
  • Shape the Future: Work on initiatives involving cutting-edge technologies like AI, business process change, and digital platforms, all while embedding equity and human-centered design into every project.

What You’ll Do

1. Lead Data & Technology Projects (70%)

  • Design and manage detailed project plans for grants and contracts.
  • Provide technical assistance to human services agencies, supporting data alignment and digital modernization strategies.
  • Facilitate peer-to-peer learning and cohort-based knowledge sharing among project participants.
  • Develop insights and document lessons learned to create tools and resources that benefit the broader APHSA membership.

2. Build Sector Capacity with Digital Resources (15%)

  • Craft blogs, issue briefs, webinars, and toolkits showcasing successful process innovations.
  • Manage online platforms that foster peer learning and knowledge exchange.
  • Lead presentations that inspire action and share insights with diverse audiences.

3. Strengthen Partnerships (10%)

  • Support APHSA’s IT-focused affinity group and workgroups addressing key technology and policy issues.
  • Build and expand relationships with civic tech organizations, industry leaders, and community partners.
  • Represent APHSA at national events to share expertise and promote collaboration.

4. Drive Organizational Impact (5%)

  • Contribute to APHSA’s broader mission through cross-functional collaboration, team leadership, and strategic planning.

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience:
    • 5-7 years of relevant work experience, including at least 2-3 years in a supervisory role.
    • Proven ability to manage technical projects, especially in the public sector.
  • Skills & Expertise:
    • Strong understanding of process innovation, data alignment, and emerging technologies like AI/ML.
    • Experience weaving equity principles and human-centered design into public sector initiatives.
    • Exceptional communication and facilitation skills, with a track record of engaging bipartisan stakeholders.
  • Mindset:
    • Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of your work.
    • Passion for improving customer experiences within public services.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, and digital collaboration tools.
