The Department of Psychology at Rutgers University-Newark invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Data Science, beginning September 2025. About the Role

We are seeking a visionary scholar whose expertise lies at the intersection of data science and the study of brain, behavior, cognition, or affect. With a focus on AI/Deep Learning or complex psychological modeling of large datasets, the successful candidate will drive groundbreaking research in areas such as:

  • Computational Cognitive Neuroscience
  • Predictive Analysis of Individual Differences
  • Lifespan Changepoint Dynamics
  • Social Science and Marginalized Communities

As part of this role, you’ll also:

  • Build an externally funded research program that advances the field.
  • Teach and mentor undergraduate and graduate students, fostering curiosity and academic growth.

Your Profile

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in psychology, neuroscience, computer science, statistics, or a related discipline by the time of appointment.
  • A research program that demonstrates potential for external funding and high-impact contributions.

Preferred Expertise:

  • Application of AI/Deep Learning to psychological research.
  • Experience uncovering structure and patterns in large-scale datasets.
