Are you a seasoned Data Engineer with a passion for building scalable, high-performance data systems? At Zelis, we are modernizing the healthcare financial experience, and we’re looking for an experienced Senior Snowflake Data Engineer to join our Zelis Data Cloud and contribute to the Zelis Data & AI Fabric.

As a Senior Data Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in designing, developing, and optimizing our data systems. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to build solutions that drive impactful data products while leveraging Snowflake, Azure/AWS, and cutting-edge technologies to transform the healthcare landscape.

What You’ll Do:

Build High-Impact Data Systems

  • Design and implement high-level technical solutions for both streaming and batch processing systems.
  • Create and optimize data models that align with dimensional modeling standards for efficient data storage and access.
  • Implement scalable, reusable components, frameworks, and libraries to support enterprise-wide analytics products.

Innovate with Emerging Technologies

  • Conduct POCs (Proofs of Concept) on new technologies and architecture patterns, keeping us ahead of the curve in data engineering.
  • Work collaboratively with both business and technology stakeholders to design and implement cutting-edge data management features.

Ensure Data Quality and Performance

  • Anticipate, identify, and resolve issues related to data management to ensure high-quality, reliable data.
  • Lead initiatives to optimize data for ingestion, ensuring smooth flow and readiness for consumption.

Lead and Mentor Data Engineers

  • Drive mentorship and training for offshore Data Engineers, instilling best practices and ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  • Collaborate with product management and engineering leaders to define technology roadmaps, align on design, and shape the data architecture strategy.

Troubleshoot and Resolve Data Issues

  • Conduct root cause analysis to address complex data issues, ensuring that data products meet the highest standards for performance and reliability.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts to resolve data-related challenges, minimizing downtime and ensuring smooth operations.

Collaborate and Share Knowledge

  • Review and guide design, code, and test plans to maintain and evolve engineering standards.
  • Profile data to understand key patterns, helping shape scalable solutions tailored to the business needs.

What We’re Looking For:

Experience

  • 8+ years of experience with the Snowflake Data Platform, and Python for data engineering.
  • Proven expertise in data warehouse design, dimensional modeling, and creating scalable data lakes and data marts in Snowflake.
  • Experience with ETL tools such as DBT, Informatica, Matillion, Talend, or Azure Data Factory.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of cloud technologies (preferably Azure/AWS).
  • Business analysis experience with the ability to translate data challenges into actionable technical solutions.
  • Knowledge of GitHub, Azure DevOps, Agile methodologies, Jira, and Confluence.
  • Working experience with Erwin for data modeling.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, showing strong problem-solving skills and ownership over tasks.
  • A proactive approach to managing and prioritizing multiple projects while meeting deadlines.

  • Excellent at identifying root causes of complex issues and proposing solutions.
  • Clear communicator with an ability to collaborate and guide teams, both onsite and offshore, to deliver on data engineering goals.
