As a Traffic Systems Technician, you’ll be at the heart of Amarillo’s traffic operations. Whether you're just starting your career or have years of experience, this role will have you:

  • Installing, repairing, and maintaining traffic systems: Ensure signals, lights, and communication systems work flawlessly.

What It Takes to Succeed

Qualifications:

  • Traffic Systems Technician I:

    • High School diploma or equivalent (no experience required).
    • Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain a Class A CDL within 180 days of hire.
  • Traffic Systems Technician II:

    • High School diploma or equivalent.
    • At least 1 year of experience in construction, electrical troubleshooting, or traffic systems.
    • Commercial Class A CDL required at the time of application.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Understanding of traffic flow principles and traffic management systems.
  • Proficient in using tools like bucket trucks and cable locators.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and electrical construction procedures.

Physical Requirements:

  • Comfortable working in extreme temperatures, confined spaces, or high-traffic areas.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform tasks that require climbing, balancing, and reaching.

Work Location & Details

  • Location: Amarillo District Headquarters, 5715 Canyon Dr, Amarillo, TX 79110.
  • Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 40 hours/week (flexibility for nights, weekends, and holidays).
  • Travel: Up to 25% travel required.
