About the Position
Hamline University’s Department of Mathematics in Saint Paul, MN, is inviting applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Computational Data Science. We’re looking for a passionate and innovative educator with expertise in Data Science, Computer Science, Programming, Statistics, or related fields. As a faculty member, you will contribute to our growing programs, including the Computational Data Science and Applied Mathematics degrees, and work closely with colleagues across diverse disciplines, from Physics to Economics to STEM Education.
This is a rare opportunity to teach a wide range of students from various backgrounds and disciplines, and to have an immediate impact on our community through the development of new courses, innovative teaching practices, and research that involves undergraduate students.
What You Will Do at Hamline:
Teach and Inspire: Develop and teach introductory and advanced courses in Data Science, Programming, Computer Science, and Statistics, along with innovative interdisciplinary courses that engage students with generative AI tools and community engagement projects.
Research: Build a strong research program that encourages undergraduate participation, contributing to the growing field of Computational Data Science and collaborating with faculty across departments.
Contribute to Curriculum: Help us shape new courses that integrate high-impact practices and interdisciplinary teaching approaches, ensuring students have the skills and knowledge they need to thrive in a rapidly evolving field.
Support Our Mission: Foster a welcoming environment that promotes equitable access to the mathematical and data sciences for students from traditionally underserved communities.
Collaborate Across the University: Engage with faculty, staff, and students from a variety of disciplines to offer a robust and holistic educational experience within the liberal arts context.
