We are looking for a Research Policy Lead to join our team at the Ronald and Maxine Linde Center for Science, Society, and Policy (LCSSP) and help bridge the gap between scientific innovation and impactful policy change.


About the Role:

The Policy Lead at LCSSP will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of science policy by leveraging Caltech’s scientific expertise to influence key conversations. You will be responsible for managing day-to-day tasks, conducting research, writing policy memos, and fostering connections with policymakers, students, and faculty. This role is an exciting opportunity to be at the intersection of science, society, and policy, influencing the translation of groundbreaking research into real-world impact.


What You Will Do:

  • Organize and Lead LCSSP workshops, events, and research efforts that highlight the intersection of science and policy.
  • Write & Coordinate comprehensive policy reports and workshop outputs to inform key stakeholders.
  • Track & Monitor relevant policy developments in Washington, DC and communicate them to the Caltech community.
  • Collaborate with faculty, students, and policymakers to provide strategic guidance on policy research and to shape academic research with policy relevance.
  • Serve as a liaison for LCSSP, coordinating with Caltech administration and fundraising teams to advance the center’s initiatives.

What You Bring:

  • BS/BA in a STEM field (including social sciences).
  • 2+ years of experience in project management, research, and communications related to academic, consulting, or industry projects.
  • Strong writing skills, with an ability to clearly articulate complex issues in policy.
  • Attention to detail, highly organized, and self-motivated with excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient in general computing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS, MA, or MPP with a focus in climate & sustainability, biopolicy, or AI policy.
  • Experience working on science and technology policy in legislative or executive agencies.
