We are seeking a visionary leader to fill the inaugural Department Chair position. About the Opportunity:As the Chair of the Department of AI & Health, you will be at the forefront of revolutionizing healthcare by integrating data science and artificial intelligence. Reporting directly to the Dean of MCG, your leadership will inspire faculty, drive interdisciplinary collaborations, and elevate Augusta University as a national leader in AI-powered healthcare solutions. Your Impact:

  • Strategic Leadership & Vision: You will craft and implement a visionary strategy that aligns with the university’s mission, advancing AI in healthcare research, education, and patient care.
  • Innovation in Education & Research: Oversee the development of innovative educational programs and lead groundbreaking AI research that addresses urgent health challenges.
  • Faculty Development: Build a world-class faculty by attracting top-tier talent, fostering collaboration, and nurturing the next generation of researchers and healthcare innovators.
  • Research Excellence & Funding: Lead initiatives that secure substantial external funding, expand partnerships, and grow Augusta University’s standing as a national AI research hub.
  • Collaboration Across Disciplines: Lead efforts to integrate AI across health science disciplines, forging partnerships with academia, healthcare systems, and industries to ensure that AI benefits patients and communities.

Required Qualifications:

  • MD, PhD, or a combination of relevant credentials, with eligibility for faculty appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level.
  • A proven track record of leadership in AI, data science, healthcare innovation, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in securing research funding, particularly from NIH or equivalent organizations.
  • A history of impactful scholarly work, with publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • A visionary approach to the future of AI in healthcare, with a commitment to interdisciplinary and collaborative initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A robust history of leading AI initiatives in academic or research settings.
  • A commitment to mentorship, with a focus on career development for early-career faculty.
  • Experience in integrating AI across diverse healthcare settings to improve patient care and outcomes.
  • Expertise in developing sustainable, data-driven solutions for healthcare challenges.
