Position: Senior Software Engineer – ML Engineer, AI Platforms and Services
Location: Remote (0% - 25% Travel)
Salary Range: $78,900 – $147,500 (Base pay determined by experience and contributions)

Your Role:

As a Machine Learning Engineer at Highmark Health, you will work at the intersection of cutting-edge technology and business innovation. You’ll design and implement scalable AI/ML solutions that make a direct impact across our enterprise systems. From concept to deployment, you will ensure that our models power smarter, faster, and more effective solutions for our customers.

What You’ll Do:

???? Innovate: Translate complex business challenges into machine learning problems, and craft scalable AI/ML systems to solve them.
???? Build Scalable Systems: Design, develop, and deploy production-ready machine learning models into enterprise applications.
???? Collaborate: Work closely with cross-functional teams, from development to product management, to bring intelligent systems to life.
???? Refine & Optimize: Continuously monitor model performance and ensure your models stay sharp—track data drift and retrain when necessary.
???? Mentor: Guide and inspire junior engineers as you continue to learn and grow in your own field.

Who You Are:

???? Proven Expertise: You’ve spent at least 5 years designing algorithms, working with modern programming languages (Java, Python, etc.), and building scalable, highly-available systems.
???? ML Expert: You have experience deploying AI/ML models into production and have worked with frameworks like Flask, FastAPI, or Kserve.
????? Full-Stack Thinker: Your experience spans across development, from building APIs to deploying machine learning models. You’re comfortable across the entire tech stack.
???? Agile Enthusiast: You thrive in scrum environments, consistently meeting sprint goals and delivering high-quality code.
???? Mentor & Collaborator: You’re a team player who loves collaborating across departments and mentoring others to help them grow.

What You Bring to the Table:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred)
• 5+ years in programming (Java, Python, JavaScript, etc.) and system architecture
• 3+ years developing and deploying machine learning solutions in a software engineering context
• Familiar with tools and frameworks like Django/Flask, Google Cloud Platform, AWS, and more
• Solid understanding of web services technologies (REST, JSON, HTTPS)
• Familiarity with Natural Language Processing, Deep Neural Networks, or similar ML fields
• A passion for learning and keeping up-to-date with the latest in AI and ML
