Job Description:

Are you ready to be a part of a dynamic, forward-thinking team? Pearson is on the lookout for a Mid-Level Software Developer to help us enhance the Item Assist feature of our ExamDeveloper web application. You’ll join a small but highly collaborative team where your work directly impacts the user experience for customers who rely on ExamDeveloper to craft professional certification exams.

What You'll Do:

As a Software Developer on the Item Assist team, you’ll focus on building exciting new features, enhancing the user experience, and fixing defects. You’ll collaborate closely with Product Managers, Architects, Business Analysts, and your fellow developers to bring innovative solutions to life. With Angular as the key frontend technology and C# in the backend, you'll have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge tools in a cloud-based development environment. Here’s what you’ll be involved with:

  • Develop new features for the Item Assist tool, an AI-driven enhancement to Pearson VUE’s ExamDeveloper platform.
  • Partner with the Product Manager to bring new UI/UX features to life.
  • Write unit tests to ensure the highest quality code.
  • Participate in release deployment activities and provide on-call support during off-hours.
  • Collaborate with the QA team to fix reported defects and improve product quality.
  • Work with technologies like Microsoft SQL Server, Kubernetes, and Azure to support the containerized services behind ExamDeveloper.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 3+ years experience as a software developer with a focus on Angular (or other similar frameworks like React or Svelte).
  • 2+ years experience with C# (backend development).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of relational databases and experience with cloud-based development and deployment.

Bonus Skills:

  • Experience with DevOps workflows and familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
  • A continuous drive for improvement and staying up-to-date with the latest technologies.
