What You’ll Do:

As a Solar Field Assistant, you’ll work alongside skilled technicians to maintain the performance of solar systems in residential areas. You’ll play a key role in delivering exceptional customer service, assisting with troubleshooting, and ensuring that solar systems are performing optimally. Whether you’re assisting with service tasks, evaluating systems, or working on rooftops, your contributions will directly support Sunnova’s mission to deliver sustainable energy solutions.

  • Assist Solar Technicians with maintenance, service, and troubleshooting of solar systems.
  • Evaluate systems for maintenance, warranty, design, and performance.
  • Provide Tier 1 troubleshooting for solar systems and ensure smooth workflows.
  • Develop expertise in different roof types, flashings, and mounts.
  • Travel to job sites using your personal vehicle and perform work at various locations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma (or GED).
  • 1+ years of experience as an electrical technician, solar installer, electrician, or solar helper.
  • Current, valid Driver’s License with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Electrical training and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • OSHA 30 Certified.
  • Formal electrical apprenticeship and/or vocational training.
  • 1+ years in the solar electric industry or relevant labor experience.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus!

Additional Skills and Qualities:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Highly organized, with a professional appearance.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.

Working Conditions:

  • Job sites vary, so you’ll need to be flexible with location.
  • Travel is required, with 1-2 overnight stays per month (travel may increase based on business needs).
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions and in various environments, including rooftops.
  • Physical stamina required for tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds, standing, kneeling, climbing, and working for extended hours.
