Join the Penn State Berks Composition Program as an Adjunct English Composition Instructor and play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of thinkers, communicators, and creators.


What You’ll Do:

???? Engage and Educate:

  • Teach one to three in-person sections of first-year composition courses per semester (three to nine credits).
  • Inspire students to think critically, write effectively, and communicate confidently.

?? Innovate Instruction:

  • Implement best practices in English composition pedagogy (WPA guidelines welcome).
  • Incorporate multimodal composition and foster creativity in student work.

???? Support Student Success:

  • Hold office hours to mentor and guide students through the writing process.
  • Evaluate student progress thoughtfully and with limited AI assistance.

???? Collaborate & Contribute:

  • Participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Foster an inclusive classroom environment that supports diverse learners and perspectives.

What You Bring:

? Minimum Qualifications:

  • M.A. in Rhetoric/Composition, English, or a closely related field (degree awarded by start date)
  • A commitment to undergraduate education and an inclusive learning experience
  • Dedication to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in education

? Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Rhetoric/Composition or closely related field
  • Experience teaching advanced writing, technical writing, or writing in the disciplines
  • Knowledge of multimodal composition and educational technologies
  • Interest in community-based writing initiatives
