Senior Researcher – AI and Controls, Reinforcement Learning

What You'll Do:

  • Explore & Innovate: Lead research initiatives, invent new ideas, and implement cutting-edge AI/ML algorithms.

  • Problem-Solve: Identify research gaps and execute complex projects to address them.

  • Document & Share: Publish high-quality research reports, external publications, and records of invention.

  • Collaborate: Work across cross-functional teams, industry partners, and top research universities.

  • Develop & Evaluate: Define requirements and evaluation metrics for AI/ML and control solutions.

  • Test in the Real World: Conduct experiments and testing at GM’s Milford location as needed.

What You Bring:

  • Educational Background: PhD or MSc with 3+ years of experience in AI, ML, computer science, engineering, or physics.

  • Expertise: Deep knowledge in areas such as deep learning, autonomous agents, multiagent systems, prediction, distributed optimization, and reinforcement learning.

  • Algorithm Mastery: Experience creating and implementing reinforcement learning algorithms.

  • Data Proficiency: Skilled in working with high-dimensional data using AI/ML techniques.

  • Technical Skills: Strong programming background (Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn, etc.).

  • Analytical Excellence: Strong problem-solving capabilities.

  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

  • Passion: A drive to apply AI and Controls for a smarter, safer future of mobility.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in applying reinforcement learning to real-world problems.

  • Expertise in merging ML techniques with control theory challenges.
