What You’ll Do:
- Explore New Sensor Technologies: Dive deep into advancements in camera, radar, and UWB hardware to uncover groundbreaking solutions.
- Develop Advanced Algorithms: Craft sensing algorithms for object detection, tracking, and scene understanding with robust data-driven evaluation techniques.
- Drive Innovation: Identify opportunities to enhance automotive sensing suites, improving product quality while optimizing costs.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with strategy, product engineers, and external research partners to define data needs, validate solutions, and ensure continuous improvement.
- Create Game-Changing Features: Engineer solutions for both interior and exterior sensing, including Driver State Monitoring, Cabin Monitoring, Proximity Detection, and more.
- Knowledge Sharing & Mentorship: Publish research findings internally and externally, mentor peers, and lead educational initiatives.
- Engage in External Research: Build strategic partnerships with leading universities to advance Ford’s research portfolio.
What You Bring:
Must-Haves:
- M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Robotics
- 3+ years hands-on experience with camera, radar, or UWB hardware
- 1+ year developing signal processing or computer vision solutions
- Experience with product development and system integration
Even Better If You Have:
- Ph.D. in a relevant field
- Experience designing sensor hardware components or pairing with embedded systems (SoCs, FPGAs)
- Knowledge of AI/ML techniques for sensor fusion and multi-modal perception
- Proven ability to identify and lead innovative research projects
- Strong passion for emerging sensing technologies and real-world applications
