As our CIO, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping our IT strategy and leading our digital transformation initiatives to accelerate the critical research and education that defines us. What You'll Do:

  • Lead IT Strategy & Roadmap: Develop a strategic IT plan that supports VAI’s mission of life-changing research and education while aligning with long-term goals.
  • Oversee Infrastructure & Cybersecurity: Ensure secure, scalable systems that protect data integrity and meet evolving needs across research and education domains.
  • Champion Digital Transformation: Drive innovation and enhance collaboration with cutting-edge IT solutions that enable research breakthroughs and high-impact educational experiences.
  • Collaborate Across Leadership: Work closely with senior leadership to identify technologies that amplify VAI’s mission, pushing the boundaries of what's possible.
  • Foster Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Create a culture of constant innovation, optimizing our IT processes to ensure VAI remains at the forefront of biomedical discovery and education.

What We’re Looking For:

We need a visionary leader who can see the big picture and understand how technology can elevate scientific research and education. You are someone who thrives on challenge and inspires your teams to innovate, collaborate, and continuously improve.

Must-Have Skills & Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Experience: 10+ years of IT leadership experience (CIO, IT Director), with a proven track record of managing digital transformation initiatives in complex environments.
  • Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of cloud computing, cybersecurity, data analytics, and emerging technologies like AI/ML.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: A collaborative leader with excellent communication skills who thrives in cross-disciplinary partnerships.
  • Strategic Mindset: Strong ability to align technology solutions with organizational goals and navigate complex challenges.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced Degree: Master’s degree in IT Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Certifications: CISSP or CITM, showcasing your expertise in IT governance and security.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with NIH compliance and experience working in a government-funded research setting.
