Are you passionate about identifying and managing third-party risks in IT? Do you have expertise in vendor risk management and want to help safeguard the operations of Executive Branch Agencies? At Minnesota IT Services (MNIT), we’re looking for an IT Vendor Risk Analyst to join our team and play a pivotal role in assessing the risks associated with third-party suppliers that could impact state agencies' operations, reputation, and compliance.


???? What You'll Do:

  • Vendor Risk Management:
    Support the Vendor Risk Management Program by assessing risks associated with third-party vendors. You'll ensure that third-party actions or failures don't negatively impact the state's operations, security, or reputation.

  • Risk Assessment & Evaluation:
    Evaluate third-party vendor security and compliance documentation (e.g., SOC 2, PCIDSS) to identify risks and their potential impacts. You'll use your expertise to assess security protocols, compliance status, and manage the risks tied to vendors.

  • Collaboration:
    Work closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to communicate risk findings and drive solutions that protect state agencies.

  • Reporting & Documentation:
    Deliver clear, actionable reports and documentation that facilitate understanding and decisions regarding vendor risks. You’ll ensure that everyone involved is on the same page when it comes to vendor risk management.

  • Customer Service:
    Apply active listening, empathy, and problem-solving skills to foster strong, productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.


???? Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Experience:

    • At least 3 years of IT-related experience in Vendor Risk Management.
    • Experience using vendor risk assessment tools and frameworks.
    • Proven track record of evaluating third-party vendor risks and compliance documentation.
  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field is required; a Master’s degree can substitute for three years of experience.
  • Skills:

    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
    • Familiarity with cloud services and SaaS providers.
    • Knowledge of evaluating AI security risks and experience with FedRAMP or StateRAMP certifications.
    • Ability to clearly communicate risk assessments in both written and verbal formats.
  • Preferred:

    • Experience working with vendor contracts and knowledge of compliance standards like SOC 2, PCI DSS.
    • Ability to evaluate security risks related to AI and third-party vendors.
