As the AI Subject Matter Expert (SME), you’ll provide visionary leadership, guiding the development of AI policies, strategies, and methodologies that will elevate research, curriculum, and experimentation across academic disciplines. Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Consultation
- Provide expert guidance to the Dean of Faculty on AI research, policy, and strategy, ensuring alignment with institutional and federal goals.
- Act as the Dean’s AI coach, empowering faculty to adopt, experiment with, and integrate AI technologies across curriculum and research efforts.
- Deliver quarterly assessments, actionable recommendations, and strategic advice on AI advancements, with a focus on cybersecurity integration.
AI Curriculum & Research Integration
- Collaborate with faculty and research teams to experiment, implement, and adopt AI technologies in classrooms, labs, and research centers.
- Recommend cutting-edge AI/ML technology configurations, ensure robust cybersecurity implementations, and secure necessary approvals for AI-related work.
- Serve as a bridge between departments and mission elements, promoting cross-disciplinary collaboration and AI integration.
AI Strategy Development & Continuous Improvement
- Within the first 4 months, partner with the Dean to draft an AI strategy that reflects institutional goals and aligns with the latest in AI and cybersecurity advancements.
- Integrate best practices from university research centers and stay proactive in updating and refining the strategy as AI technologies evolve.
Training & Knowledge Sharing
- Lead monthly seminars and collaborative workshops, training faculty and staff on AI technologies and methodologies.
- Provide tailored, informal collaborations to address department-specific AI needs, ensuring seamless integration into research and learning activities.
What You Bring to the Table:
Required:
- 10+ years of experience working with AI technologies, including AI/ML algorithms, infrastructure, and cybersecurity.
- Proven experience as an AI architect, crafting and executing AI policies and strategies for large institutions.
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, with a focus on AI, ML, AI/ML infrastructure, and cybersecurity.
- Expertise in AI/ML infrastructure design, along with the ability to train teams in AI technologies and best practices.
Bonus Skills:
- Experience within university or research environments, particularly in the application of AI across diverse academic disciplines.
- Deep understanding of AI and cybersecurity challenges and solutions in high-stakes, high-velocity environments.
Travel & Requirements:
- Travel: At least 4 trips within the USA for collaboration with government, military, and other stakeholders. Travel costs will be negotiated with the government.
- Security Clearance: Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
