As an AVP - AML Data Scientist, you will play a vital role in optimizing monitoring systems and presenting complex data insights to stakeholders at all levels. What You’ll Do:
Lead AML Optimization Projects:
- Apply quantitative and qualitative methods such as Python, SAS, R, and SQL to extract, transform, and analyze AML-related data.
- Optimize and automate AML monitoring systems, propose improvements, and present actionable recommendations to stakeholders.
- Develop machine learning models for predictive analysis and use classification and regression techniques to improve risk detection and monitoring.
Data Analysis & Reporting:
- Conduct data mining, create statistical models, and validate data for accuracy in AML-related projects.
- Analyze large datasets to identify risks, patterns, and trends, and validate assumptions for continuous improvement in our AML process.
- Prepare and present findings in formal reports and visualizations, explaining complex data concepts to non-technical audiences.
Collaboration & Problem Solving:
- Collaborate with Technology and AML Sponsors to troubleshoot issues, refine processes, and validate outcomes.
- Work on ad-hoc analyses and automate recurring tasks to ensure efficient data handling and reporting.
- Maintain compliance with AML regulations and ethical guidelines to support business decisions and minimize risks.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, or related field (Master’s Degree preferred).
- 3+ years of experience in data analysis, predictive modeling, and statistical modeling.
- Proficient in Python, SAS, R, and SQL for data manipulation and analysis.
- AML monitoring system experience (knowledge of Mantas or other transaction monitoring systems a plus).
- Strong communication skills to present complex findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Desirable:
- Experience in financial services, including retail banking, small business banking, or commercial banking.
- Experience with data exploration and using statistical tools to derive insights and solve business problems.
- Knowledge of AML regulations and compliance practices is a plus.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated teamwork skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data insights clearly.

Salary Range: $87,280 - $130,920
Location: Tampa, FL (Hybrid)
