[Company Name] is looking for a Junior Data Scientist to support our PEO Digital & Enterprise Services DevSecOps Center of Excellence (DCE) and contribute to groundbreaking data analytics and visualization efforts.


What You’ll Do:

As a Junior Data Scientist, you will play a key role in shaping our data science capabilities, providing technical leadership and subject matter expertise across multiple domains. Your contributions will be instrumental in:

  • Data Modeling & Analytics: Develop data models to help leadership answer crucial questions like “Will my existing architecture support a Cloud migration for 472,000 M365 users?”
  • Trade Space Discussions: Create and maintain optimal data lakes and visualizations to inform trade space discussions and support decision-making at the highest levels.
  • Automate and Optimize: Streamline processes by automating data sources and using orchestration tools to keep data accurate and up-to-date. Optimize data delivery and infrastructure for greater scalability.
  • Build Infrastructure & Tools: Design and build infrastructure for extracting, transforming, and loading data, and create tools that turn data into actionable insights for customer acquisition, efficiency, and performance metrics.
  • Support Leadership: Prepare briefs and reports for Senior Leadership, translating technical data into digestible formats for strategic decisions. Write whitepapers to articulate data strategies.
  • Collaboration & Innovation: Work closely with Product, Data, and Design teams to address data infrastructure needs and contribute to the continuous improvement of our product and services.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience with Navy Products: Previous work-related experience in Navy products, services, and policies is a plus, but a passion for innovation and data science is key.
  • Technical Expertise: You should have a solid understanding of application, data, and infrastructure architecture and be familiar with tools like orchestration, cloud services, and compute/storage systems.
  • Cloud and Automation Experience: Knowledge of cloud-hosted applications, and experience with infrastructure automation and automated application deployments is highly beneficial.
  • Agile Methodology: You should be comfortable working in agile environments and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver successful projects.
  • Security Clearance: You must have a Secret level clearance or higher.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities, with a track record of researching, solving technical problems, and driving solutions autonomously.
  • Effective Communication: Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly to leadership and stakeholders, both in writing and in presentations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience with data modeling, cloud services, orchestration tools, and infrastructure management.
  • Familiarity with network protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP) and security standards.
  • Proficiency in performance, reliability, and availability metrics.
  • Experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SLI/A/O), scalability, and resiliency.
  • Ability to manage service-level changes to systems or services.
