Are you a talented Rust Engineer with a passion for Machine Learning (ML) and GenAI? Ready to make a significant impact by helping modernize the healthcare financial experience? Zelis, a leader in healthcare technology, is looking for a Rust Machine Learning Software Engineer to join our Data Intelligence (ZDI) Business Unit.

As part of our innovative team, you'll develop and maintain cutting-edge software that processes massive healthcare datasets using Rust and other advanced technologies like Apache Arrow, Polars, Apache Data Fusion, and SIMD. Your work will be crucial in helping us build scalable microservices that solve some of the most complex challenges in healthcare data management and ML model deployment.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• ML & GenAI Expertise: Deeply understand and apply ML algorithms, latest trends in GenAI, and engineering best practices in a healthcare context.
• Code Craftsmanship: Write maintainable, efficient, and scalable code, optimizing for CPU and memory to handle large datasets and complex computations.
• Architecting Solutions: Design and develop resilient software architectures to ensure scalability and reliability across all customer-facing services.
• Open-Source Contribution: Utilize and contribute to open-source technologies while ensuring our systems are built to last.
• Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance, data-driven solutions using Rust, AWS, Unix, Docker, Airflow, and Snowflake.

What We’re Looking For:

• 7+ years of experience in software engineering with strong Rust proficiency.
• Experience developing, deploying, and optimizing Machine Learning and GenAI models.
• Solid experience with AWS, Unix, Docker, Snowflake, OpenTelemetry, and Airflow.
• Strong DevOps mindset with a focus on best practices like source control, automated testing, and code reviews.
• Ability to create scalable production applications, work with large datasets, and take ownership of the entire development lifecycle.
• A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a technical field.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Apache Arrow, Polars, and Data Fusion.
• 5+ years of backend engineering experience focused on ML applications.
