The University of Connecticut School of Social Work is seeking a Senior Data Analyst (Research Assistant 3) or Lead Data Analyst (Research Associate 1) to support the Innovations Institute’s growing portfolio of research and evaluation activities.
This remote position offers an exciting opportunity to work with local, state, and federal agencies to enhance child-, youth-, and family-serving public systems through evidence-based solutions, continuous quality improvement (CQI), and program evaluation. You will play a key role in using data to improve behavioral health services and outcomes for communities nationwide.
What You’ll Do:
- Data Management & Analysis: Manage, clean, and merge large datasets, ensuring they are analysis-ready. Perform quantitative analyses to derive actionable insights for stakeholders.
- Data Visualization: Create clear, impactful visualizations to communicate key findings from your analyses to diverse audiences.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with internal teams, external stakeholders, and public agencies to support CQI efforts, research needs, and data collection procedures.
- Lead Research & Reporting: Contribute to and co-author academic manuscripts, technical reports, and public-facing documents to inform decision-makers and guide future research directions.
- Support Evaluation & Strategy: Assist in the design and execution of evaluation plans and help implement strategic plans to improve behavioral health service arrays.
- Mentorship & Expertise: Share your expertise by mentoring junior analysts, providing training, and offering technical assistance to service providers.
Senior Data Analyst (Research Assistant 3) Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (or Master’s degree with less experience) in Social Sciences, Statistics, Public Policy, Health Science, or related field.
- 4-5 years of post-degree experience, with strong skills in statistical programming (SPSS, SAS, R, STATA) and data cleaning.
- Experience working with large administrative datasets and a solid understanding of statistics and research design.
- Ability to create clear data visualizations and communicate insights to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects under tight timelines.
Lead Data Analyst (Research Associate 1) Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in a related field with 8-10 years of relevant experience.
- Advanced expertise in statistical programming and quantitative data analysis.
- Experience working with large datasets and developing workflows for data collection and analysis.
- Strong background in research design and evaluation methodologies.
- Proven ability to communicate complex findings clearly to diverse audiences.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with R, Python, SQL, or Power BI for data management and analysis.
- Familiarity with implementation science, rapid-cycle evaluation, and data visualization tools like Tableau.
- Expertise in translating non-technical requests into actionable analyses and visualizations.
- Experience presenting at academic conferences or writing for peer-reviewed journals.
