What You’ll Do:

• Lead & Inspire: Oversee a high-performing data science and AI team, setting the standard for excellence in machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and more.
• Innovate & Transform: Design and implement data-driven solutions that enhance healthcare delivery, from predictive modeling to AI-powered clinical tools and operational improvements.
• Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with clinical, research, and administrative stakeholders to identify impactful use cases and translate them into actionable AI-driven solutions.
• End-to-End Leadership: Manage the entire AI/ML lifecycle—from ideation and data acquisition to model training, deployment, and monitoring—ensuring seamless integration into the healthcare ecosystem.
• Mentorship & Development: Provide guidance and support to your team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth in data science and AI capabilities.
• Ensure Ethical AI: Operate within a data governance framework, ensuring responsible and ethical use of AI, while maintaining privacy and security standards.
• Drive Innovation: Lead the adoption of emerging technologies and best practices to keep Keck Medicine at the forefront of data science in healthcare.
• Communicate Insights: Present complex technical results to senior leadership, clinicians, researchers, and external partners to drive informed decision-making and strategy.
• Strategic Guidance: Provide input on strategic goals, and partner with executive leadership to steer the AI/ML initiatives for maximum impact.
• Talent Development: Work closely with USC's internship programs to build a pipeline of new talent and drive future AI innovations.

What You Bring:

• Master’s degree (or Bachelor’s + 5 years of additional experience) in Computer Science, Statistics, Machine Learning, or a related field.
• 5+ years of leadership experience in data science or AI, with 3+ years managing teams in healthcare or research settings.
• Proven expertise in advanced statistical techniques, machine learning, and AI applications like predictive modeling, NLP, and computer vision.
• Strong experience managing the entire AI/ML lifecycle from data acquisition to production deployment.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex AI/ML concepts to clinical, research, and executive audiences.
• Leadership capabilities with a history of mentoring, guiding, and influencing high-performing professionals.
• A knack for solving complex problems, thinking critically and creatively, and driving impactful solutions in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in securing and managing grants and contracts for data science initiatives.
• Proficiency with AWS Sagemaker, Comprehend Medical, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Python, SQL, and other machine learning tools.
• Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) within 30 days of hire (required for LA City locations).

Compensation:

• Base Salary Range: $133,120.00 - $219,648.00 (based on experience, skills, and location).
