What You’ll Do:

As an Associate Data Scientist, you will be integral to the success of our research efforts, working under the guidance of senior staff to provide research, analytical, and technical support on a range of data-driven projects. You’ll collaborate with experts from multiple disciplines to develop innovative solutions, leveraging your analytical skills to address Navy-related issues across various domains.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research and analysis to meet CNA’s high standards on structured, focused questions.
  • Apply established methodologies to develop solutions for complex challenges.
  • Contribute to team success by collaborating with colleagues and building institutional knowledge of client needs.
  • Assist in business development and marketing by conducting background research and helping to prepare presentation materials.
  • Develop effective communication skills by presenting your findings and working with internal teams to present and deliver insights.
  • Participate in projects that may involve direct interaction with clients under supervision, gaining valuable client-facing experience.
  • Support other research tasks and projects as assigned, contributing positively to team dynamics.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A Master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to conduct basic data analysis.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and basic database management.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to present findings clearly and effectively.
  • Effective collaboration skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Critical thinking and organizational skills with the ability to manage time and prioritize tasks.
  • A curiosity-driven mindset with an eagerness to learn and grow in the data science field.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Active Secret Security Clearance.

Preferred (but not required) Skills:

  • Experience with research techniques, data wrangling, and analysis of large data sets.
  • Knowledge of statistical software or programming languages such as R, Python, or SQL.
  • A strong interest in defense and military operations and the application of data science in this domain.
