What We’re Looking For:
We are seeking faculty members who have a proven track record of excellence in research, teaching, and mentoring within data science or closely related fields. If you have made fundamental contributions to the discipline—whether in methodology, application, or impact—you might be the perfect fit for this distinguished role.
As a Quantitative Foundation Distinguished Professor, you will:
- Lead the School of Data Science in advancing innovative methods and applications.
- Contribute to research excellence and foster a scholarly environment for novel techniques in data science.
- Mentor and educate students at all levels, shaping the next generation of data scientists.
- Engage in a variety of teaching and advisory roles, both in-person and online, and help develop modern pedagogy in data science.
- Act as a national and international thought leader, strengthening UVA’s reputation as a leader in the data science field.
Who You Are:
- You hold a PhD in Data Science or a closely related field (e.g., STEM, social sciences, or humanities with a Data Science focus).
- You have a national or international reputation for your work in data science and a demonstrated commitment to advancing the field.
- You are passionate about developing the next generation of data scientists and fostering a diverse, inclusive environment in academia.
- You are excited about shaping the culture of a new school and collaborating with dynamic faculty members in a rapidly evolving field.
