If so, the University of Virginia is seeking a Business Intelligence Analyst to join our dynamic University Advancement team and help fuel our mission to enhance fundraising and engagement efforts.

As part of UVA’s Advancement Analytics department, you will be at the forefront of data-driven decision-making and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our fundraising strategy. You’ll work with leaders, prospect managers, and front-line development officers to turn data into powerful insights that drive performance and deliver measurable impact.

What You’ll Do:

  • Transform Data into Actionable Insights: Convert large data streams into meaningful reports, visualizations, and dashboards that drive strategic fundraising initiatives.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with Advancement leadership and key stakeholders to understand business needs and provide data analysis that informs decision-making.
  • Enhance Reporting and Analytics: Use SQL, Tableau, and other BI tools to create comprehensive reports on prospect pipelines, portfolios, campaign progress, and more.
  • Mentor and Share Knowledge: Serve as a technical resource and mentor to colleagues, training them on data analysis and visualization best practices.
  • Lead Data Visualization Projects: Contribute to the design of unit-wide visualizations and reports, evaluating progress towards performance and campaign goals.
  • Stay Ahead of the Curve: Monitor economic and philanthropic trends, incorporating insights into your analyses to keep UVA ahead in the fundraising world.
  • Manage Multiple Projects: Juggle various tasks with ease, prioritizing deadlines while maintaining high-quality work.

What You’ll Bring:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, Data Science, or a related business intelligence field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 3+ years of experience in business intelligence, including data manipulation, creating visualizations, and collaborating with stakeholders to drive performance.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Tableau, and data analysis tools. Experience with other BI tools is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly and effectively.
  • The ability to work independently in a remote environment, while being a proactive team player when collaborating on projects.
