The Role:
As a Staff Data Scientist on the Signals Team, you will lead the charge in developing the intelligence layer of Crunchbase’s products. This means working on sophisticated machine learning models that help our users discover insights and predictions personalized to their needs. You’ll mentor a team of talented data scientists, collaborate with engineers, and directly contribute to the advancement of Crunchbase’s data infrastructure. What You’ll Do:
- Shape the Future of Data Science: Design and build scalable ML algorithms, including Natural Language Processing (NLP) and other cutting-edge machine learning models that drive personalized insights for our users.
- Empower a Data-Driven Culture: Develop tools and processes that enable our engineering and product teams to easily query and analyze datasets, helping everyone at Crunchbase leverage data to make informed decisions.
- Architect Scalable Systems: Lead efforts to design fault-tolerant, highly available systems that deploy and execute ML models seamlessly.
- Lead Technical Initiatives: Take ownership of key projects, making decisions on architectural trade-offs and ensuring the scalability of our data platform.
- Mentorship & Leadership: Guide junior engineers, foster a culture of technical excellence, and provide ongoing professional development to the team.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with product, engineering, and analytics teams to integrate machine learning solutions and ensure they align with the company’s strategic goals.
- Evaluate Emerging Technologies: Stay at the forefront of data science trends, recommending and adopting new tools to enhance our data capabilities.
- Communicate Clearly: Translate complex technical findings into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- 6+ years of professional engineering experience working with technologies such as Python, SQL, and Pandas.
- Proven experience implementing NLP and ML algorithms in production environments.
- Strong understanding of dimensional data modeling and ETL pipeline development.
- Experience with data warehousing technologies and cloud platforms.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset, capable of explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects end-to-end and mentor others.
