Your Opportunity:
Adventist Health Bakersfield is looking for a Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join our dynamic team in a Per Diem capacity with variable shifts. If you’re passionate about providing high-quality laboratory services and are eager to be part of a team that prioritizes patient care, this is your chance to make a direct impact. In this role, you will perform a variety of complex laboratory tests on biological specimens, ensuring accurate results and contributing to the critical decisions in patient care.
What You’ll Do:
- Test & Analyze: Perform a broad spectrum of clinical laboratory tests across multiple departments including chemistry, hematology, microbiology, blood bank, serology, and more. Ensure proper specimen collection, handling, and analysis.
- Maintain Accuracy: Review test results, ensuring they meet expected standards and correlating them with patient diagnoses. Identify inconsistencies and escalate critical values as needed.
- Quality Control: Execute quality control checks, monitor instrument performance, and perform maintenance and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment.
- Train & Mentor: Share your expertise by training laboratory assistants and clerks, ensuring they adhere to lab protocols and safety guidelines.
- Collaborate: Work closely with clinicians and other healthcare team members to ensure timely and accurate reporting of lab results.
- Safety & Compliance: Follow safety protocols for handling specimens and ensure compliance with all HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality guidelines.
What You’ll Bring:
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, biological sciences, chemical sciences, or allied health technologies (or equivalent).
- Clinical laboratory experience preferred but not required.
- Licenses & Certifications:
- Valid Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license in the state of California.
- Certification from American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or National Credentialing Agency for Labs (NCA) is preferred.
