Your Impact:
As an Informatics Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, building, and optimizing data pipelines that support essential data and analytics initiatives within our Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW). You’ll work hand-in-hand with cross-functional teams to enable data-driven decision-making, ensuring that our organization’s strategic goals are met. The ideal candidate will have a keen understanding of Kimball dimensional modeling and advanced SQL programming—skills you’ll use daily to craft meaningful data solutions for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
What You’ll Do:
- Build & Optimize: Design, build, and automate high-performing data pipelines with a focus on the EDW to support diverse data science and analytics initiatives.
- Dimensional Modeling: Implement Kimball methodology for dimensional modeling, creating conformed dimensions and designing fact tables (transactional, snapshot, and fact-less).
- Collaborate for Excellence: Partner with the Informatics team to continuously enhance and optimize the EDW for future analytics.
- Mentor & Lead: Help elevate the technical capabilities of your teammates by mentoring on SQL development, ETL processes, and data modeling best practices.
- Data Preparation: Support ad hoc analytics by producing clean datasets and user-friendly tools for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Process Improvement: Contribute to the culture of continuous improvement by implementing best practices, optimizing processes, and ensuring the reliability and performance of systems.
- Stay Current: Keep your skills sharp and stay ahead of the industry by participating in educational programs, reading relevant literature, and attending conferences.
What You Need:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 5+ years of ETL experience, with a focus on building and optimizing data pipelines and data infrastructure.
- SQL Expertise: Strong proficiency in SQL programming and query optimization (preferably with SQL Server or other RDBMS).
- Dimensional Modeling: Solid experience with Kimball methodology and ETL processes to create structured and useful data solutions.
- Documentation & Testing: Experience in developing database specifications, test plans, and system documentation.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Familiarity with Snowflake, Matillion, and other modern data tools.
- Experience with Tableau, Power BI, or SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
- A background in healthcare analytics or experience working with healthcare data.
- Knowledge of AI tools like ChatGPT and integrating them into existing systems.
