Department Overview:

Position Overview:
We are seeking passionate Lecturers to join our Temporary Faculty Pool for the 2024-2025 academic year. If you have a deep commitment to teaching and a strong background in Computer Science, we invite you to apply. As a part of this pool, you may be called upon to teach undergraduate courses such as:

  • CSci 1: Critical Thinking and Computer Science
  • CSci 39: Computer Science Principles
  • CSci 40: Introduction to Programming and Problem Solving
  • CSci 41: Introduction to Data Structures
  • CSci 60: Foundations of Computer Science
  • CSci 80: Introduction to Computer Systems

Other courses may be available based on departmental needs. The specific courses you’ll teach will depend on your qualifications and experience.

Instructor Responsibilities:As a temporary faculty member, you will be responsible for:

  • Course Preparation & Delivery: Design and deliver engaging lectures, assignments, and exams. Foster a collaborative learning environment through office hours and class discussions.
  • Course Management: Oversee homework assignments, quizzes, midterms, and final exams. Ensure courses meet as scheduled, whether in-person, hybrid, or online.
  • Grading & Feedback: Provide timely feedback and constructive assessments of student work.
  • Student Engagement: Support students' academic growth by offering clear guidance on course materials and promoting problem-solving skills.

Compensation:
The salary range for lecturers with a Master’s degree is $4,530.00 - $6,056.00 per month for full-time (15 WTUs). Salary adjustments will be made based on the number of units taught and qualifications.

Position Details:
This is a temporary, part-time position with no long-term commitment. The pool remains open throughout the year, and positions will be filled as needed based on student enrollment and budget considerations. The number of positions will vary each semester, with appointments being made just prior to the start of the term. Applicants may be required to begin teaching on short notice.

  • Fall 2024: August 19, 2024 – December 23, 2024
  • Spring 2025: January 15, 2025 – May 23, 2025

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: A Master’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Experience: Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students and faculty from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Teaching Experience: Prior experience teaching at the undergraduate level or evidence of teaching excellence.
  • Technical Expertise: Knowledge of programming languages, software development, or other computer science disciplines that align with the department’s needs.
