About the Opportunity
The City of Fresno is looking for a skilled Database Administrator (DBA) to join the Information Services Department. As a DBA, you will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity, security, and performance of the City's wide-ranging database systems. You’ll oversee database architecture, design, and administration, ensuring that our systems run smoothly and meet the evolving needs of our community.

Key Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll:

  • Database Management: Oversee Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL Server databases, handling tasks like performance tuning, backups, troubleshooting, and upgrades.
  • Data Integrity & Security: Maintain system security, implement data standards, and ensure that databases are protected and properly managed.
  • Expert Technical Resource: Serve as the go-to expert on database architecture, providing guidance and recommendations for improvements and maintaining City-wide standards.
  • Collaboration & Leadership: You may lead and mentor a team of IT professionals, ensuring all systems are running optimally.
  • Application Support: Support applications related to human resources, financial systems, utility billing, and more.

Ideal Candidate
We’re looking for someone who is highly skilled in database administration, especially with Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server. You should have:

  • Experience: At least 2 years in database administration, including tasks such as DDL/DML functions, security, backups, and troubleshooting.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of operating systems (Windows, Linux, Unix) and familiarity with Esri SDE Geodatabases. Experience with Accela is a plus!
  • Leadership: Ability to work independently and manage projects while leading technical teams.
  • Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Certifications: A valid California Driver's License and the ability to pass a Department of Justice fingerprint background check.
