The San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART) is seeking a Principal or Senior Policy and Data Analyst (Financial Analyst) to join our dynamic Financial Planning Department. Advanced Financial Analysis: Perform complex financial, statistical, and program management analysis, driving important decisions in budget preparation, monitoring, and financial forecasting.
Policy & Strategy Development: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to analyze and implement fare policies, financial strategies, and funding agreements that ensure the long-term viability of BART’s operations.
Project Oversight & Management: Oversee the development of BART’s operating financial plan, including the analysis of ridership data, forecasting future revenues, and ensuring that funding agreements and contracts are in compliance with District and regulatory standards.
Stakeholder Engagement & Presentations: Communicate complex financial analyses in a clear, concise manner to senior management, the Board of Directors, and external agencies, providing actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
Innovation & Process Improvement: Utilize advanced tools such as Microsoft Excel, data analysis platforms, and financial management systems to continuously improve processes, efficiency, and data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Leadership & Mentorship: As a Principal Analyst, you may have the opportunity to mentor junior staff, guide complex project work, and help shape departmental policies and procedures for long-term success.
Advanced Analytical Skills: Expertise in financial forecasting, complex data analysis, budget management, and program performance evaluations.
Transportation Knowledge: Understanding of the challenges facing BART and the broader Bay Area transportation sector, with an ability to interpret and forecast operational, financial, and ridership trends.
Strategic Thinker: Experience in policy development, strategic planning, and identifying opportunities for process optimization.
