Why This Role Matters:
As a Data Scientist for CalAIM, you'll take a lead role in revolutionizing the way healthcare services are tracked, reported, and optimized for Medi-Cal billing. You’ll collaborate with stakeholders to build advanced analytics systems, develop intuitive dashboards, and power insights for impactful program design and continuous quality improvement.

What You’ll Do:

  • Data Innovation: Design and implement advanced methods to collect, process, and analyze both structured and unstructured data to uncover trends and insights.
  • Operational Intelligence: Create predictive models and dashboards to inform key decisions for CalAIM services and billing operations.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Work collaboratively with stakeholders from both technical and non-technical backgrounds, translating data insights into actionable solutions.
  • Performance Optimization: Build automated reports and tracking tools for quality assurance and managed care reporting.
  • Continuous Improvement: Troubleshoot data issues, implement creative solutions for evolving program requirements, and shepherd data-driven improvements across the board.
  • Mentorship: Provide technical oversight to data analysts, guiding best practices for data extraction, transformation, and predictive analytics.

  • Expertise in SQL database design and management with the ability to lead complex system build-outs.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and advanced analytical tools.
  • Proven experience managing data pipelines, reporting frameworks, and innovative data solutions.
  • Strong communication skills, making complex data insights accessible to diverse stakeholders.
  • Passion for using data to improve healthcare access and services for underserved populations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Data Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Public Health, or related field.
  • Minimum 6+ years of data science experience, with 2+ years in a lead capacity.
  • Hands-on experience with machine learning, predictive analytics, and complex data integration.
  • Familiarity with healthcare data, particularly Medi-Cal programs, is a strong plus.
