What You’ll Do:

• Lead the Charge in Decision Science: As a Staff Data Scientist, you’ll take ownership of designing and expanding our data and decision science products. You’ll develop advanced statistical solutions to meet evolving product needs and complex customer challenges.

• Collaborate for Impact: Work alongside product managers, engineers, and cross-functional teams to build and refine user-facing features, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer needs.

• Shape Product Strategy: You'll serve as a strategic partner to our customers, helping them solve complex data problems and unlock value using LaunchDarkly’s experimentation tools.

• Mentor & Inspire: Lead, guide, and mentor a talented team of data scientists to produce sound, scalable, and performant statistical models. You’ll also provide coaching on best practices in statistical methodologies.

• Champion Statistical Excellence: Advocate for and implement best practices in statistics, tooling, and data engineering across the organization, ensuring quality and reproducibility.

• Push the Boundaries: Take the initiative to contribute to industry advancements through academic papers, industry blogs, and thought leadership content, solidifying LaunchDarkly's position as a leader in data-driven experimentation.

• Lead Customer Education: Empower customers by sharing your expertise through workshops, office hours, and content creation—helping them unlock the full potential of our products.

What We’re Looking For:

• Education & Experience:

  • Advanced degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Deep fluency in probability, statistics, and statistical modeling techniques.
  • Proven experience building experimentation tools and driving data science initiatives at scale.

• Skills & Expertise:

  • Expertise in frequentist and Bayesian statistics, with an appreciation for both methodologies.
  • Strong communication skills with a focus on explaining complex concepts in simple terms.
  • You maintain a high bar for code quality, reproducibility, and data engineering best practices.
  • Experience in mentorship and leading technical teams to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions.
  • A passion for making complex data more accessible and actionable for end users.

• Technical Proficiency:

  • Experience with technologies like Golang, Scala, Kinesis, Flink, or similar tools is a plus.
  • Hands-on with statistical programming tools like R, Python, or similar.
