The Role:Hewlett Packard Labs is at the forefront of AI innovations, and we’re excited to invite a talented Software Engineer to join our Physics-Based GenAI Team. Here, you will help revolutionize the way we develop generative AI models that blend the power of symbolic AI, physics, and deep learning. Our goal is to push the limits of what AI can do, from generating text, images, and audio, to complex reasoning using physics-inspired models. In this early career role, you will work on the full development cycle of groundbreaking generative AI models, shaping the future of high-performance AI.
What You’ll Do:
- Develop Generative AI Models: Work alongside a diverse team of engineers and researchers to build and refine AI models capable of generating symbolic, graphical, scientific, and multimodal content.
- Collaborate on Full AI Lifecycles: Contribute to pre-training, fine-tuning, and inference, all while incorporating novel models inspired by statistical physics.
- Innovate with Multidisciplinary Concepts: Use your expertise in machine learning and physics to create AI systems that can reason reliably and interpret complex datasets.
- Iterate & Solve Challenges: Apply your creativity and analytical skills to solve some of the world’s most complex problems in AI, with real-world applications in fields like material science and quantum computing.
Required Qualifications:
- PhD in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, Physics, or related fields.
- 1-5 years of professional experience in AI/ML, particularly with generative models.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience working with AI frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch.
- Proficiency in Python and C/C++, and experience with data structures and algorithms.
- Solid understanding of deep learning, neural networks, and generative models.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a creative, iterative mindset to tackle complex problems.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and convey technical details to non-technical partners.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with HPC programming environments and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Familiarity with combinatorial optimization and its application in AI/ML.
- Background in computational physics and using physical principles to enhance ML models.
- Contributions to open-source AI/ML projects or relevant publications.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies.
