Job Description:

Location: On-site in St. Paul, MN (Flexible options available)
Company: ABOUT Healthcare

Are you ready to apply your data science skills to revolutionize healthcare? ABOUT Healthcare is looking for a talented and forward-thinking Data Scientist to join our dynamic team. This is your chance to work at the crossroads of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, healthcare, and operations to create innovative solutions that drive hospital efficiency and improve patient outcomes.

Why ABOUT Healthcare?

ABOUT Healthcare is changing the way hospitals and health systems operate. We provide innovative, flexible solutions that enable health systems to run more efficiently, empowering clinicians to provide better care faster. By integrating predictive analytics with real-time insights, we’re transforming the way hospitals move patients into and out of acute care settings. As we continue to scale our solutions, we’re seeking a Data Scientist who will help us bring this vision to life.

Your Role:

As a Data Scientist at ABOUT Healthcare, you will:

  • Build Predictive Models: Develop and refine machine learning models for critical hospital operations—like hourly discharge forecasting, hospital admission predictions, and patient progress tracking.
  • Data Exploration & Analysis: Dive deep into complex healthcare datasets to uncover patterns, challenges, and opportunities that can drive actionable insights.
  • Deploy AI/ML Solutions: Work with engineers to take your models from concept to production, ensuring scalability and reliability for real-world hospital applications.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with product managers, operations teams, and customers to define key data-driven features and metrics that will power our solutions.
  • Feature Engineering: Leverage AWS tools (S3, Glue, Athena, Timestream, Bedrock, SageMaker) to streamline data pipelines and enhance machine learning models.
  • Optimize & Iterate: Continuously monitor and optimize model performance, improving accuracy and efficiency over time.
  • Communicate Findings: Present your findings in a clear, accessible way—transforming technical insights into strategic recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Work on the Cutting Edge: Apply your knowledge in LLMs (Large Language Models), NLP, deep learning, and other AI domains to build advanced healthcare solutions.

What We’re Looking For:

Must-Have:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience: 1+ years of experience developing and deploying machine learning models in production environments.
  • Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Python (or R), SQL, and common ML libraries (e.g., Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Cloud Expertise: Experience working with cloud technologies, especially AWS (S3, Glue, SageMaker, etc.).
  • Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and leverage complex datasets.
  • Communication: Ability to present technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Modeling Expertise: Knowledge of ETL processes, feature engineering, real-time forecasting, and time-series modeling.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Healthcare Experience: Familiarity with EHR/EMR data, healthcare data analytics, or hospital operations.
  • Advanced Techniques: Exposure to time-series modeling, ensemble methods, and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Agile Experience: Familiarity with Agile methodologies and collaborative software development.

Why You’ll Love Working Here:

  • Impactful Work: Your work will directly influence hospital operations and patient outcomes, making healthcare more efficient and accessible.
  • Growth & Development: We support continuous learning, offering opportunities to expand your skills through cutting-edge AI/ML projects.
  • Innovative Culture: Join a team of passionate, forward-thinking professionals who thrive in a collaborative environment.
  • Flexibility: We believe in work-life balance and offer flexible working arrangements.
  • Competitive Benefits: ABOUT Healthcare offers a comprehensive benefits package to support your well-being and growth.
