What You’ll Be Doing:
- Data Analysis & Modeling: Apply advanced data science techniques to healthcare datasets, including EMR, bio-signals, imaging, and computational biology, to derive actionable insights that will inform clinical decisions and research.
- Collaboration: Work alongside clinical teams, engineers, and researchers to co-create predictive models, risk algorithms, and healthcare solutions that can be deployed in real-world clinical settings.
- Scalable Solutions: Contribute to the development of scalable predictive analytics, machine learning models, and other advanced solutions that support precision medicine and personalized healthcare.
- Research Support: Analyze health data and conduct statistical analyses, exploratory data analysis (EDA), and feature engineering to support ongoing clinical and research initiatives.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Translate complex data findings into clear, understandable insights for key stakeholders, including clinicians, hospital administration, and research teams.
- Innovation: Partner with various stakeholders across Houston Methodist and Rice University to ensure the effective application of data science research and its transition into real-world healthcare solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive the analysis of health care data, applying both basic and advanced statistical methodologies, to extract insights and inform clinical decisions.
- Help implement data-driven solutions that address complex healthcare challenges, such as improving patient outcomes, optimizing hospital operations, and advancing clinical research.
- Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of data input and results. Review and resolve discrepancies as they arise.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to ensure effective communication of data findings and implementation of actionable insights.
- Collaborate closely with clinicians, researchers, and hospital staff to identify areas for improvement and introduce data-driven solutions that enhance care delivery and clinical outcomes.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Master’s or Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Clinical Informatics, Public Health, Engineering, or a related field. Alternatively, an MD with experience in computing, informatics, and statistics will also be considered.
- Experience: At least two years of experience in healthcare data analytics and/or database management within a healthcare organization.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in statistical modeling, data analytics, and using tools such as Python, R, SQL, or SAS for data analysis.
- Data Integration: Experience with healthcare data integration in a Health IT environment and a deep understanding of clinical and research databases.
- Communication: Ability to explain complex data insights in a clear, understandable way to non-technical stakeholders, such as clinicians and healthcare administrators.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to tackle difficult problems and translate data into actionable recommendations for the healthcare field.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Health IT & Software: Experience with implementing and managing Health IT software, as well as knowledge of clinical process mapping and healthcare analytics.
- Research Experience: Experience in clinical, research, and/or healthcare administration and a passion for advancing the field of digital health.
