About the Role:As a Risk Statistician, you'll be the key player in helping us develop and maintain advanced predictive models that support our Global Commercial Lending and credit risk efforts. You will be immersed in working with large datasets, data mining, and statistical modeling, all aimed at improving business processes and answering strategic questions for GM Financial. The ability to visualize complex data and communicate results clearly will be critical as you help shape the future of risk management.

What You’ll Do:

  • Design & Develop Predictive Models: Assist in building sophisticated statistical forecasting models that support our commercial lending and credit risk efforts.
  • Data Mining & Analysis: Dive into complex datasets, utilizing advanced techniques to develop models that improve operations and answer key business questions.
  • Model Validation: Ensure your models are accurate and reliable through rigorous validation practices and continuous monitoring.
  • Clear Communication: Distill your complex analysis into clear, actionable insights. Communicate your findings, statistical methodologies, and results effectively to management and cross-functional teams.
  • Ad-hoc Research Projects: Engage in special research projects where you’ll analyze new datasets, utilize advanced statistical techniques, and explore innovative ways to optimize our models.
  • Improve Business Operations: Use data analysis to uncover insights that directly impact business operations and strategy.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in data mining, data analysis, and statistical modeling techniques, including logistic regression, decision trees, and linear programming.
  • Coding Skills: Experience in SAS, SQL, and/or Python for data mining, transformation, and statistical modeling.
  • Analytical Mindset: Strong foundation in mathematics, probability, and statistics, with a keen eye for details.
  • Tool Savvy: Experience using Excel for large data sets, and familiarity with PowerPoint and Word for presenting your findings.
  • Communication Skills: The ability to explain complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
  • Problem-Solving: Comfortable handling multiple projects simultaneously, even under tight deadlines.
  • Industry Experience: While not required, experience in consumer, commercial, or floorplan dealer portfolios would be a plus.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Econometrics, Operations Research, or another quantitative field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience: 0-2 years of hands-on experience in data analysis, modeling, and forecasting (experience in consumer loan or lease portfolio analysis is a plus).
